Lose the Granny Panties, Lose the Cellulite

You've probably heard of Dr. Lionel Bisson and his book The Cellulite Cure. Or if not, you've probably heard of his famous panty theory.

Dr. Bisson has appeared on numerous TV talk shows to promote his book, usually holding up a pair of lacy red thong panties.

He says that after five years of careful observation of ladies' derrieres (in a clinical setting, of course) he's positive that traditional or "granny panties" are a key factor in the development of cellulite. Why? Because the elastic causes compression across the "lymphatic tissues" which sooner or later leads to the dreaded dimpling.

Many women have worn that type of underwear pretty much 24/7 since they were little girls, giving it plenty of time to do horrific damage. To quote Dr. Bisson, "tight undergarments are the friends of cellulite."

I was skeptical, as you might be too. But in his book he shows "case study" photos of women where you can clearly see that their cellulite is much worse all along their panty line! Seriously. Buy a copy of his book, get it from the library, or check out excerpts on Google reader. I'm pretty sure that after you see those photos, the next time you hit Victoria's Secret you won't be buying the cotton briefs.

So, for your information, here are his General Rules for Underwear (in his words, not mine):

  1. No elastic over buttocks
  2. No elastic over groin area
  3. Elastic is okay at waist
  4. Wear non-compressing lace instead of elastic
  5. Preferable to wear thongs and g-strings
  6. Not wearing underwear is an option
  7. Stockings/pantyhose are beneficial
  8. Sleep in the nude or pull-over nighty
  9. Don't wear underwear and pantyhose together
I think it's no surprise that men love this list!

So how about you, have you made the switch?
